What is a concealed canasta?
A player goes out “concealed” when they meld their entire hand in one turn, including at least one canasta, without having made an earlier meld and without previously having added any card to melds that their partner has made.
How many points is a concealed hand in canasta?
A concealed canasta occurs when a canasta is melded directly from a player’s hand. Usually in also going out: going out concealed which earns an extra 100 point bonus over the standard 100 point going out bonus.
What is a concealed canasta worth?
You get a 100-point bonus for going out. You get a 200-point bonus for going out concealed, which means going out without first putting down any melds. If you can go out with a concealed hand after your opponents pick up a large pile, you can reduce the damage caused by the points left in your partner’s hand.
