How is the sequence board arranged?
Each corner of the board has a “Free” space that all players can use to their advantage. This space acts as if it has a chip of each color on it at all times. To form rows, chips may be placed vertically, horizontally or diagonally. Each complete row of five (or four and a free corner space) is counted as a sequence.

This game is great because you can play strategically with advanced players or go easily on new players to let them learn and not smash their spirits. We had lots of fun playing this with teams of larger groups and with just two people. I would say 5 and up for the age range. Adults had lots of fun too.
Is Sequence a game of luck?
Conclusions: The luck factor in Sequence, despite being marketed by Jax as a strategy game, is extremely high and can rarely be overcome by strategic play. Too much is dependent on the cards that players draw, and the choices that are available are too constrained to overcome the luck of the draw.
